It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Link up with Jen at teachmentortexts.com and Kellee at unleashingreaders.com to share what you are reading with your students this week.

I'm so excited to get in the classroom today.  Last week, when we were in the library together, my students saw me checking out the books that we were going to read this week.  Immediately, I started to hear, "Read That One first!"  "Read This One First!"  :)  Be Still My Little Heart.  We might read them all today.  (Just kidding.)

I had this one in my pile a couple of weeks ago.  I went back and got it from the library again.  An adorable story and an adorable boy who is a hugging machine!

The problem is: they hate to share.  We are exploring the concept of "Think Win-Win" right now as we also study The Leader in Me.  This book is perfect for revisiting that concept.

A beautiful book.  Not a lot of text, however, this is when my kids seem to do the best.  A perfect way to revisit the snow that we had last week.

This wordless picture book is beautiful.  The story is lovely.  (No!  YOU had tears in your eyes when it was over.)

Finally, some nonfiction to practice the skill of summarizing.
Interesting facts in here.  I was most fascinated by how an ant bathes.

What Am I Reading???

I'm still reading FanGirl.  I keep thinking I might abandon it, yet when I do sit down to read, it moves along quickly.

I also have a book at school for me to read:

Ta-Da!  This book is so cool.  I'm so glad I picked up this Newbery winner to read in all my free time.  Ahem.  Anyway, it's awesome.  I'll make time to read it.

What are you reading?  Have a happy Monday!
Joy!

  2. Has a sports book EVER won a Newbery before? I really enjoyed Crossover and glad it is getting the exposure it deserves.

  3. I liked Crossover quite a bit--and think I read it cover to cover in about an hour, so you will not need much free time to get it read! A few minutes here and there will do it! Didn't know about this Steven Jenkins title but now I must have it! What a wonderful stack of books you've got to share with students this week! Blizzard is a recent favorite of mine.

  5. Hug Machine is adorable. Blizzard has arrived in our library, but all I've seen so far has been the beautiful cover. I'm waiting, not so patiently for Crossover to arrive from the library.

  6. Just finished reading Fangirl - it does get better. :) I enjoyed reading it two weeks back. Can't wait to read Crossover. Will be featuring Blizzard and Hug Machine in the next few weeks too.
