SOL 24: 5 Things That Always Get Me into Trouble

Two Writing Teachers host Slice of Life on their blog.  Join us and link up too!

A little story about this post.  I made a calendar for this month, to help me draw inspiration when things got tough.

A 3:53 AM wake up call for No Reason makes writing a little tough this morning.

On my Calendar?  5 things that always get me into trouble.  (With an explanation if possible...)

1.  My Sass. (Stubborn and Outspoken.)  When I was born, my Granny used to joke she knew there was a God, "Look at that girl's sass, she's Denny's girl for sure."  As I've aged, I've learned to channel my powers for good.  Most of the time.

2.  An invitation to eat.  The trouble here?  Usually how I feel the next day from overindulging.  Last week as I was eating a meal with family, I even said, "This is going to be bad later." (Some Peppermint tea please!)  But I loved the company and every moment of the dinner.

3.  Wandering through the book store without a plan.  $$$.

4.  Going to the grocery store without a list.  $$$.

5.  My phone next to my bed at 3:53 AM.  I know, it should be out of my room for relaxation purposes.  I'm using my room as a living room these days too, so sometimes it ends up there.  On the flip side, I read some of your blogs this morning, and enjoyed it very much!

  1. The whole bookstore without a plan thing and grocery store without a list are two things that I get in major trouble for. Going to the grocery store without a list and hungry is double the trouble. Love the idea!

  2. A small part of me is jealous that your eyes pop open at 3:53am. I would be able to get so much more accomplished (I think). Great humor in your post; I enjoyed getting to know you.

  3. I love that you found a way to share these things, Kendra, those that get you into trouble-funny for us, maybe not so much for you. Did you really rise so early? I've waked up sometime, but usually can go back to sleep for a while. I understand about the bookstore without a plan, too many wonderful displays!

  5. What a great list...and I sure can relate on the going to the grocery store or book store with no list....and even with a list. Nothing wrong with a little sass...especially if you use it mostly in a positive direction. Hope your day is sunny. Jackie http://familytrove.blogspot.com/

  6. 3:53 a.m? Oh, my. Reading in the middle of the night might not be a bad idea. As long as you got your rest later.

  7. What a great list. I would add to #4 going to the grocery story hungry. That always gets me in trouble!

  9. I wrote the other day about the phone next to my bed. I totally get it :) Definitely understand #4 and would add going to the grocery store hungry, too! Love the idea of this format. May need to tuck it away for something to write about.

  10. I TOTALLY love your title! I may have to try this as well, although it might be more than 5. For now, I'm going to borrow your title in a found poem I'm creating.
